Justin Leov was on fire in the Downhill scene winning Norba events till a broken Collarbone weeks out from worlds set him back. He is now back riding.
David Scandrett rode the U19 World Champs in Scotland but had bike problems in Qualifying and a puncture in the final. Still U19 for next year and is working hard on medalling and earning a Pro contract.
Reid Swartz (Chicago)was part of the team winning the US Masters Nationals Team Sprint in the 135 (combined years) age group. Reid had an okay Masters Worlds and has started training for next year.
Ted Schmidt won the Minnesota Cat 3 Sprint, Masters Sprint and Elite Team Sprint state titles and rode at US Nationals.
Taylor Olson who started the year as a Cat 3 rider won the Minnesota Elite Sprint and Team Sprint and went to US Nationals and placed 10th in the sprints making the sprint rounds. It's all on for a sub 11 200m next year. Started the season with 12.4 and got to 11.4 at Nationals.
Megan Blatchford Peck had a phenomenal Masters World Champs winning the 35-45 Women's 5000m Scratch Race and taking Silver in 40-44 Sprint and Pursuit and Bronze in 500m TT. Next up is dealing to the seniors at NZ Track Nationals and winning more medals in next years Masters Worlds.
Thomas Hubbard pulled out a huge ride at NZ Road Nationals winning Bronze in the U17 road race.
Sarah Martin lined up for the New Zealand team on the track and road at the Oceania Games. Her first ride as an U19 rider. Results didn't go as planned but her committment stays strong with Track Nationals firmly in sight.
Annaliisa Farrell and Jayne Parsons are fully committed to take Gold in Beijing in the ParaOlympics. Jayne is blind and has relocated to Christchurch to train with Annaliisa. Their main event is the 3000m Pursuit but will also ride the Kilo, Road Time Trial and Road Race.
Micheal Vink is a promising Downhill rider who has made the switch to road and track and after top ten placings at Road Nationals is making up for a lack of experience fast down at Denton Park.
Allen Vugrincic is looking forward to a big season on the track next year. After experiencing the joy of my special 30sec efforts he should have no problem surpassing the form that earned him the Californian Kilo title last year.
I will be going to these as part of the Canterbury Team Management. It's a full on selection event for NZ Elite riders wanting selection for next years Olympics so racing will be full on!
Working hard at Bike HQ, new Pinarellos, Treks, Fuji's and Genius Bikes are all here, bling for every-one's budget. Will be getting some good rides in on my Genius Squadra now the weather is picking up.
Coaching wise will be working on developing better communication systems and improved testing protocols so I can set more performance based challenges with programmes through the year.Ride hard!!!
